Oh the D-Space is back ? The SVG to lemur was only made because d-space was gone. But if your SVG convertion makes lemur crash, then my svg converter will do the same.
I really recommend u take all SVG you want to use and open them in adobe illustrator or GIMP, then try and see if you can split some of the drawings into more layers.
So far I haven't gotten any Downloaded SVG to Look like anything near in lemur as it did original, unless I took it and did some changes and splitted it in more layers.

I'm still exploring canvas. Right now haven't looked more into what's is possible to convert from SVG to Canvas. Because I'm still at stage with my current project where ugly GUI is still acceptable for me. As long the scripts ain't 100% ready I don't feel like doing to much about the looks. Best advance I can give is split the drawing into more layers so the canvas_fill and canvas_stroke happens more offen. Also gives more options to color each different parts later on. Technical It should be possible to convert most of all into canvas from svg. As long u just don't do to many draw commands before a fill or stroke.
The weirdest part is original HTML canvas has a command that makes u able to draw image files as canvas. And if you modify the command to lemur style its accepted In the editor, only problem is there is no command to tell the img file path. So weird..... Then all of this would been easy as pie...
Right now I'm using canvas as my folder/files browser for ableton live to select samples on drum pads in a drum rack. Main goal is to build my own 64 step sequencer with ableton as a sequencer core with buildin sample/vst load function and later clip automation drawing with lemur style. My ugly progress so far:
(videos was just recorded to brag to one of my friends, that I learned python with ableton)
But once it all works 100% with ableton python script and lemur scripts. It will be time take all of this and try design a better look in gimp or illustrator and all objects in the lemur controller will be canvas based. And I will happily share my experience with svg to canvas conversion once that happens xD.
Since those videos I figured out how to build a osc module in my python script so sending information from python to lemur by osc been so much easier. No more advanced scripting that split long ascii hex strings into the right amount letters pr word and then does arraytostring command.(hat to build it like that sending 1000 sysex strings for 1000 sample names took aaaaaagggeeeeeesssssssss... while 20 sysex strings containing all 1000 names took a frac of a sec) but thx to osc Just simple sizeof and [x] to extract the sample names again.. Pffftt a script that took me 3 days to think off got replaced by a few lines that took me 5 mins... but was worth it..
Right now I just struggle with a scroll feature since each folder row has more boxes to pick than u can see, but I don't want all kind of scroll buttons and shit. But that minor problem anyway. I'm just happy I gotten this far. 1 year ago I would never hat dreamed that I managed to learn how to use lemur canvas and python scripting, but fuck it here I am xD.
